Mark A. Plunkett, M.D.
Dr. Plunkett is a board certified Ophthalmologist. He grew up in Spring, Texas, and is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center (an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Hospital), where he was Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. Dr. Plunkett then completed his fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Duke University. He has been in practice in Austin, with Drs. Rock and Thorne since 1996.
His interests include modern, small-incision cataract surgery, refractive surgery, cornea transplantation, and general ophthalmology, including medical and surgical treatment of many diseases of the eye. He routinely performs cataract and LASIK surgery.
Dr. Plunkett's many hobbies include windsurfing, sailing, cycling (mountain, road and tandem), and following the Longhorns. He is married and has three children. His wife, who is an Austin native, practices pediatrics.
