George C. Thorne, Jr., M.D.
Dr. Thorne is a leading eye surgeon specializing in LASIK and refractive surgeries as well as Cataract, Glaucoma, Corneal Transplant, and Laser Surgeries. Well-recognized by his peers nationwide, he is board certified in ophthalmology and has one of the busiest practices in Texas.
In addition to his surgical and medical practice, he spends a considerable amount of time on volunteer medical projects in Developing Countries. His goal is always to teach others and improve their skills, leaving behind a greater legacy than can be accomplished through surgery alone.
Dr. Thorne served on a number of Medical Boards including a term as President of the Texas Ophthalmological Association and the Chairman of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Practice Management Committee. Locally, he has been the Department Chairman of Ophthalmology for both Seton and St. David's Hospitals.
Dr. Thorne is from Austin originally and trained in the UT-System Medical Schools in Houston and San Antonio. After completing his training specialization, he completed a Post-Residency Fellowship with The Proctor foundation at UC-San Francisco in Cornea and Infectious Diseases of the Eye.
