How LASIK Works: An Intralase laser makes an extremely precise, thin, hinged flap in the top layer of the eye (the cornea). The flap folds back so the excimer laser can reshape the cornea to improve focusing ability. Then the flap goes back into its original position and seals itself within minutes.
